She was a first team All Columbus player three of the four years she played.
After graduation, she attended Baker-Thompson School of Nursing in Lumberton, NC. She left school and married her high school sweetheart, Lupton Ward, who was serving in the U.S. Air Force at the time. After his discharge, they moved back to the farm where she grew up. It was during this time on the farm that her daughter Kay was born. She was then and continued to be the pride of her life, as long as she lived.
She was an active member of Bethel Methodist Church serving as the youth director and as a member of the Women’s society.
She and her family moved to Wilmington, NC in 1969 when her husband accepted a job with GE. The family joined Trinity United Church and she became a circle member and loved helping at church functions when able. Trinity was a major part of her life and she loved everyone there.
Another love was her home and yard. She loved plants and flowers. She could grow anything. She was awarded several “Yard of the months” while in Spring View. She was also a long-time member of the Gardenia Garden Club of Wilmington, NC.
Her main love was her family. She was most excited about her two beautiful grandkids, Cary Marie Lambert and Cameron James Lambert. They loved their grandmother with all their hearts.
