Milton Utley

Memorial Gifts & Donations

On Wednesday morning, in a peaceful departure surrounded by loved ones, Milton Utley went to heaven. Milton was a consummate family man who lived and worked hard all his life. He lived in an incredible marriage, the north star of relationships, with his beautiful wife and soul mate, Frieda Justice Utley.

Milton was born in Elkton, KY, the second of two children to Milton Utley Sr. and Minnie Lorraine Utley. After serving two years in Germany responding to Uncle’s Sam’s call in the US Army, Milton lived a life full of hard work and tenacity determined to ensure his family never had to feel the hardship he had felt growing up underprivileged in rural Kentucky.

Milton loved the people in his life and encouraged excellence believing and demonstrating the mantra, “You can be anything and do anything in this life. Don’t be afraid of nothing!” He practiced and encouraged fearlessness to all who knew him.

Milton leaves on this earth carrying his legacy of love his wife, Frieda, daughter Natalie Waggett and grandson Fisher Waggett as well as daughter Judi Reynolds, grandsons Shawn and Karl Reynolds, son, Ron Utley, granddaughter Sonya Utley, and great-grandsons, Hudson Reynolds and Micah Utley.

Milton was greeted at the gates of heaven by his father Milton Utley Sr., loving mother Minnie Lorraine Utley, doting sister Ruby Lee Bard, and his “best friend” and beloved son-in-law Dane Waggett.

The family will host a visitation starting at 10:00AM on Saturday morning at Wilmington Funeral Chapel at 1535 S 41st St Wilmington, NC. At 11:00 there will be a celebration of Milton’s life at the same location. After the celebration of life, Milton will be laid to rest with military honors at Greenlawn Cemetery at 1311 Shipyard Blvd. Wilmington, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Salvation Army, an organization near and dear to Milton’s heart.

Milton was always joking around with all the "kids" and never failed to greet me with a hug and his gentle kindness. He will be missed dearly.
