Memorial Gifts & Donations

Family and friends of Monika Z. Tippins mourn the loss of a remarkable human being. Her daughter, Catherine Dawn Tippins, best described her mother when comparing her to a Rose. Not all ventured beyond her jagged exterior to appreciate the true beauty that she possessed. Those who did found a friend for life. Her never ending quest for knowledge, strong will and determination, love of family and ability to laugh at every challenge has been passed to all that she held dear. Monika’s courage and personal desire to survive her illness left us in awe of her strength. She won many fights but lost her battle on July 18, 2007. She will be missed dearly and her spirit will be with us forever.

Donations can be made at any Wachovia Bank to the ‘checking’ account for Catherine Dawn Tippins.

A memorial service to commemorate the life of Monika Tippins will be held at Fort Fisher (Kure Beach, NC) August 18, 2007 from 6:30pm until sunset. The service will be held on the Fort Fisher State Historic site in the grove next to the waterway (not on the beach side). Please bring your beach chairs, bug spray and fondest memories (or funniest stories!) of Monika to share.

Please park in the parking lot adjacent to the Fort Fisher museum.

    Yvette Flounoy says:
To Catherine, I admired your mother a great deal. She was a good friend and co-worker. She always made me laugh. We often emailed one another since she left IIS, often talking about our children. Being single parents was our common bond. I will miss those exchanges with her. Like you, I lost my mother at a young age. Keep Monika's memory alive by remembering the happy times and always remain appreciative of that time that you did have with her. Whenever you get blue, it doesn't hurt to talk to her. Her spirit lives on. I will continue praying for you to have strength and that you will grow to be a wonderful human being, like your mother. Best regards always, Yvette Flounoy

    Hannah Hall says:
I was fortunate to have met Monika at work and was so impressed with her spirit and enthusiam for life. Just talking to here was always uplifting and I truly believed she would survive. I want her daughter, Catherine, to know that the loved ones we lose, are always with us throughout our lives, always watching over us, in our hearts, and waiting for us. I feel very blessed to have known Monika, and am sure she will be one of the brightest stars in the evening sky. Sincerely, Hannah
