Mr. Eric Gregory “Greg” Cutrell, widower of Laraine Mobley Cutrell, of Wilmington, NC, passed away of natural causes on February 14, 2022 at his home.

He was born on January 1,1954 in Norfolk, VA, the son of the late Delbert Talmadge Cutrell and the late Faye Harris Cutrell. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, James “Allen” Taylor Jr and step mother Geraldine Emma Cutrell.

Greg was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed watching all sports play on TV, especially NC State. His hobbies included fishing and firearms. But mostly, he enjoyed spending time with his dogs and grandchildren.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories: two daughters; Karen Cutrell Frye and husband Aaron Michael Frye Sr. of Hampstead, NC; Erica Del Brace and husband Cody Michael Brace of Wilmington, NC; four grandchildren; Aaron Michael Frye Jr. (AJ), Virginia Del Brace (Gigi), Cody James Brace, and Maya Laraine Frye; brother Mark Barbee of Chesterfield, VA; sisters Nancy Atlee of Gloucester, VA and Rebecca Maxwell-Scott of Virginia Beach, VA; sisters in law Andrea Mobley Taylor of Wilmington, NC and Beth Mobley Walker of Surf City, NC; brothers in law C. Gary Walker of Surf City, NC and D. Rodney Mobley of Raleigh, NC. Greg will also be missed fiercely by his loyal dogs, Ellie Mae and Abby Ann.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Greg’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or any foundation of your choice.

A service of remembrance will be planned at a later date.

    I haven't seen Greg in many years, but was sad to hear of his passing. We grew up on the same street and same grade in school. What I remember most about Greg was his natural ability in athletics and his mischievous ways. My condolences and prayers go out to the family.
