Elba Rebecca Heare Miller, a faithful believer and generous mother to all, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

Her life was bounded in her faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ, and she spent her 85 years sharing his love throughout the community, and passing it on through the generations with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Elba was born May 17, 1937 in Baker, West Virginia and relocated to Wilmington, North Carolina in 1972 with her husband, Roger O. Miller, who proceeded her in death in 1992.

Elba Miller is survived by her sons and their families, Roger & Madeline Miller, Ronnie and Connie Miller, and Randy and Jeanette Miller, along with sister, Jetty Hotte. Elba celebrated as her family blossomed with eight grandchildren (Kim Haste Bartlett and husband, Matthew; Gene English; Melissa Miller Moody & husband, Rodney; April Miller Gwinn and husband, Josh; Christopher Miller and Fiancé, Varia; Jennifer Ashley Paullin and husband, Eric; Jason Miller and wife, Elizabeth; and Derek Archer) and continued blooming with 12 great-grandchildren.

Her Christian faith was an essential part of her life. She spent her spare time deep in the pages of Christian novels, and loving others through her service by volunteering with Shafto Mission
Group of Scotts Hill Baptist Church. Her devotion to the Lord brought her extraordinary strength and peace in her final days.

Her friends and family are gathering to remember the blessings and beauty Elba brought to their lives where Elba spent over 50 years as a devoted charter member, Scotts Hill Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by a service at 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 27, 2022. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shafto Mission Group at Scotts Hill Baptist Church: 185 Scotts Hill Loop Road, Wilmington, NC 28411.
