Nancy Condit McCormick died at Trinity Grove in Wilmington, NC on May 7th, 2016 surrounded by her family.

Nancy was born in Buffalo, NY on June 13, 1928, daughter of the late George and Dorothy Condit. Nancy always wanted to be a nurse, entering Syracuse University at age 16 and earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. She later received a degree from Columbia Teacher’s College. Once her children were older, Nancy attended Rutgers University to become a pediatric nurse practitioner. She was part of one of the first graduating classes of nurse practitioners in New Jersey at the time, an accomplishment of which her family is very proud.

Nancy was married to James McCormick and they raised three children in Ardsley, NY and Westfield, NJ. Nancy loved being a mother and grandmother. She leaves a big part of herself in her three children and their families.

After James died in 1996, Nancy moved to Pinehurst near her sister Barbara and husband Howard. After retiring, Nancy enjoyed spending time with her family, volunteer work, gardening, and reading.

Nancy is survived by her three children; Nancy and her husband Paul (Seal Harbor, ME), Jim and his wife Anne (Barrington, RI) , and Betsy and her husband Charlie (Wilmington, NC). Nancy loved and was very proud of her grandchildren, Nina, Clare, Sam, Ben, Eva, Patrick, and Joe.Her family meant the world to her. She is survived by her sister Barbara Todd and her husband Howard, and her brothers Ward and Tom Condit. Her brother, Buddy, died in 1982.

Nancy spent her last months at Trinity Grove, a place where she found excellent care, comfort, love, support, and a culture of strong faith. The staff always went above and beyond to meet her needs. Nancy and her family will be forever grateful for the kind and loving care she received there.

Nancy will be laid to rest next to her husband James in Westfield, NJ. A service will be planned at a later date.
