Nancy L. Oakley 75, of Wilmington passed away Friday January 11, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Nancy was born to Anna Ida Lee and Romeo Greco on August 19, 1937, before being given in adoption to Preston and Lorraine Pulver in 1942.

Nancy taught school for 27 years in Deposit, NY before retiring to Pine Knoll Shores in Carteret Co. She relocated to Wilmington in 1999, and was an avid golfer until her health no longer allowed her to play. She loved to bowl, play bridge, and be with her family.

Nancy was married to the late Kenneth H. Oakley in September of 1957 and had six children, who survive her: Mark Oakley and wife Virginia of Phoenix, AZ; Scott Oakley and wife Adela of El Paso, TX; Kirk Steven Oakley and wife Trish of Afton, NY; Darren Oakley and wife Maria of Addison, NY; Kristen Berardi of Wilmington, NC; and Kyle Graham and husband Hugh of Emerald Isle, NC; brothers, Kenneth Haight, and Richard Haight, sisters, Mona Greco Sparr and Joy Cooney; 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her dear friend, housemate, and caregiver, Billie Root, and her cat Nicki.

A memorial service will be conducted 6:00 PM Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, where she was an active member, sang in the church Choir, and taught Sunday School. A reception will follow the service.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or the National Diabetes Association.
