Nancy Rebecca Lennon (née Peterson)

Nancy Rebecca Peterson Lennon, age 80, of Riegelwood, NC, passed away at her home on September 19, 2023 after a twenty-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Nancy was born on May 11, 1943 in New Hanover County to the late Milton Norwood and Vivian Lucille Peterson.

Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She married the love of her life, Jim, in 1963 and they had 59 wonderful years together. Jim and Nancy were both talented musicians; Nancy playing the piano and Jim mastering the guitar. During all their years together, their home was filled with the joy of music. Nancy was the pianist at Riegelwood Baptist Church for over 40 years, using her talent to honor and glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Nancy is survived by her cherished children Jeffrey Warren Lennon (Alisa) and Jill Lennon Applewhite (Benjie); grandchildren James Lennon, Jessica Lennon, Adam Applewhite (Sandra), Rebecca Hester (Jared), Leanne Greene (Titus), great grandchildren Isabella Applewhite, Adam Applewhite, Jr., William Applewhite, Alyannah Applewhite, and Logan Hester, sisters Shirley Corbett (Tommy) and Jane Wardenfelt (Steve), as well as many other extended family members and friends who loved and will miss her.

Nancy is predeceased by her aforementioned parents, along with her beloved husband James “Jim” Warren Lennon, her sister Bobbie Lou Medlin, and nephew Milton Arden Medlin.

There will be a time of Visitation at Riegelwood Baptist Church on Friday, September 22, 2023 starting at 10:00am, immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00am. All are welcome to attend.
