Nathalie Alexandra Rubin passed away on April 8th 2024 in Wilmington, North Carolina. Nathalie was known to her acquaintances as a remarkable, unique, and compassionate person, who deeply impacted the lives of those around her.

Nathalie was born in Bologna, Italy to Mark and Angelika Rubin on January 29th, 1977. She was a determined and bright child who grew into a beautiful, compassionate adult. Nathalie graduated from Governor Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick, Maryland. She continued her education at University of North Carolina, Wilmington and completed her degree in Veterinary Medicine at Saint Georges University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada, West Indies and North Carolina State University in North Carolina.

Nathalie found joy in caring for her beloved animals and those of others, reading, watching movies, beach outings (Bald Head Island being her favorite in NC), travel, and playing board games with loved ones. Her infectious smile and laughter brightened the lives of those around her and that charismatic personality is unforgettable for those blessed to hear her bellow show tunes with her theatrical voice. Nathalie created strong friendships all over the world through her travels and in turn made the world a happier place for so many people.

In 2019, Nathalie secured a position at Cape Fear Community College that led to her dream job as the Veterinary Medical Technology Faculty Veterinarian and Instructor. Nathalie’s vibrant and cheerful demeanor served as an inspiration to both students and faculty alike. She loved interacting with her students and they reciprocated her passion for learning. Nathalie was so revered by all that the school is honoring her by dedicating, in naming the VMT Scrub Room after her.

Nathalie is predeceased by her father Mark Phillip Rubin, M.D., She is survived by her loving mother, family and friends. She also leaves behind her beloved fur babies Jasper, Watson, Jilly, and Bengen.

In lieu of flowers, the Cape Fear Community College Veterinary Medical Technology program (CFCC VMT) has started a Memorial Fund to benefit the VMT students by funding their required Rabies Vaccinations, and also honor Nathalie by dedicating, in naming, the VMT Scrub Room “Dr. Nathalie Rubin’s Scrub Room”.
