Oliver Edward Hadeen, age 23, of Los Alamitos, California, passed away on March 26, 2023. He was born in Newport Beach, California on May 31, 1999, to Dennis and Janet Hadeen.
Oliver was a student athlete. He was studying Coastal Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW) and had worked as an intern for a marine dredging and construction company doing various coastal surveying and dredging projects. He enjoyed the work and the people. Oliver loved soccer and was a member of both a university soccer team (Academy of Art San Francisco) and a UNCW club soccer team. He also loved to surf and play ping pong.
Oliver was adored by his family and friends. A UNCW student wrote this about Oliver…”Oliver is a perfect example of what it means to be a wonderful person. He had a calming presence and is extremely kind, he touched the hearts of so many and is an inspiration to everyone who knew him. Oliver had a funny and unique personality and was never afraid to show it and his friends loved that about him. He is described by his friends as someone always ready for a laugh.” Oliver is missed and will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Helen, Wally, and Linda and his dog, Gracie.
He is survived by his father and mother, Dennis and Janet, brother Tedric, sister-in-law Kelly, nieces and goddaughters Hazel and Piper, grandparents Annette and Jerry, uncles Edward, Matthew, Mark, and Lane, aunts Janice, Karen, and Stephanie and cousin Ana.
A Funeral Mass was held at 10:30am on Monday, May 8, 2023 at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 11482 Los Alamitos Blvd, Los Alamitos, CA 90720. Additionally, three Masses will be said for Oliver’s intention, two at St. Hedwig on Thursday, May 18 at 5:30pm, Saturday, May 20 at 5pm and one on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at 8:00am at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 5100 E. Broadway, Long Beach, CA 90803. Oliver will be inurned in a private ceremony at All Souls Cemetery, 4400 Cherry Ave, Long Beach, CA on May 31, 2023.
