ORVILLE HARPER

Orville Wayne Harper, 49, passed away on Saturday March 19, 2011 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.

He was born on January 1, 1962 in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

He was predeceased by his father Johnny Harper.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Tammy) Harper, daughter Jessie Harper Tonn, son Patrick Wayne Harper, grandchildren Mary, Morgan, Melissa, Kayden, Kelsey, his mother Sue Harper, siblings Jake, Linda, Theresa, John, Fred, Scott and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Tuesday March 29, 2011 at 10am with Interment at Oleander Memorial Gardens at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial gifts be sent to The SECU Family House 123 Old Mason Farm Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27517.

    Tammy, Jesse and Patrick your husband and father was just such a nice person!! Orville helped my dad out with his car problems but he also helped him out in other ways; and I could never thank him enough for that. GOD has taken him home and left us with good memories.

    Dear Harper family, I have been a customer at Dave's for almost twenty years now. Poor Orville had to work on my beat up cars on numerous occasions! He always shook his head and cracked a joke and we shared many laughs and stories. He was a dear man who loved his family very much. My condolences to all of you. His passing is a tremendous loss to all.

    Orville was a great friend and I cherish his friendship. He and Dave worked on all my VW’s for over twenty some years. He even totaled one of my Jetta’s years ago. Someone rear ended him while he was driving it. It was a HUGE joke for all of us. I still think of the day I called to see if my oil light was still coming on. Orville said “Anne, I got good news and bad news. The good new is the oil light is not coming on. The bad news is that I totaled it.” I cherish their friendship. There will never be another Orville.     Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow. Orville was always such a happy man. I loved to hear him laugh, it was contagious. I don't think I ever saw him without a smile on his face. My favorite memories of Orville was when he was picking on his sister-in-law Joann. She would get so mad at him and he would just laugh and laugh and laugh. I was always on her side but how could you not laugh with him? If you listen closely you can hear them now... LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
