Osmyn O. Tesh III (Bob) passed peacefully at the age of 89 on July 8, 2021. Bob was born on December 11, 1931 in Winston-Salem, NC to Osmyn and Susie Clark Tesh. He was a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School, North Carolina State University (Chemical Engineering) and UNC-Chapel Hill (MBA).

Bob served as an Air Force Navigator during and after the Korean War. While in service at Charleston, SC. he met and married his wife of 63 years, Bertha S. Miley of Branchville, SC. They were blessed with two children.

He worked for Union-Camp, Weyerhaeuser and Federal Paper Board Company as project engineer and systems analyst. He was an advisor to Explorer Post No. 1 in Franklin, VA and served in multiple officer roles with the Lion’s Club of Plymouth, NC. He volunteered for over 15 years with the New Hanover County VITA Tax Program. Bob enjoyed singing in choral ensembles, barbershop groups and church choirs. He and Bertha enjoyed square and round dancing with the 76ers. Bob was also a professional ballroom dance instructor. He was a member of American Legion Post 10 and a life member of the local Chapter 11 Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his sister, Betty Quarles, of Seaford, VA; wife Bertha; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Kathy Tesh of Houston, TX; daughter and son-in-law Teresa and Jay Jackson of Swansboro, NC; grandsons Carter Tesh of Los Angeles, CA and Christopher N. Jackson of Charlotte, NC; and granddaughter Lauren J. Mitchell and husband Jordan of Greensboro, NC.

Bob would like to thank his family, St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church, friends and associates for enriching his life.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 3-5pm at Wilmington Funeral Chapel.

    Bob was always kind to us. He was such a good sport and enjoyed a good laugh. He loved making barbershop music and performing for an appreciative audience. He had such a pleasant stage presence. I was glad to be his friend over the last 30 years.
