Pamela Beth Hampson, age 73, passed away on Sunday, January 17th, 2021. Originally from MI, Pam had lived in Leland, NC since 2001.

She leaves behind her daughter Julie Anderson (Donald) of Leland, son Robert Hampson of Wilmington, and her grandson Cameron Anderson. After a long battle over the course of 2020, which she fought with strength and grace, she died in the love and company of her children in her daughter’s home.

Pam was many things to many people. She was a teacher for decades, and a natural magnet for children. Kids approached her wherever she went. Later in life, she assumed the role of Office Manager at her daughter’s company. Finally, in retirement, she cared for her grandson Cameron while his parents worked. She was bold and beautifully blunt. You always knew what she was thinking. She was an incredible mother and Nana, and a faithful and dependable friend. She had a sense of humor that will leave those that knew and loved her laughing for many years to come.

No formal service will be held. Her children will host an intimate dinner at her daughter’s home, as a place and time to share stories and memories. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Lower Cape Fear Life Care.

    Pamela was my patient for years. It was such a privilege and honor to take care of her eyes, .one of the sweetest people I've known in my career. I will miss her and her visits to the office. One of our most favorite recurring conversation was about our grand children. My heart goes out to Pams Family as i pray for comfort and peace for you all.. God bless you.     Long ago, Pam was a teacher at St. Mary's in Big Rapids, MI. She took on the kindergarteners for morning sessions and the we added 3 yr. old and 4 yr. olds on different days in the afternoon. She was AMAZING with the little ones and really loved her job being quite creative in so many ways. One day I had to substitute for her. I was principal then. The kindergarten kids were hard to wrangle in; they preferred to ignore me and each other, but we did get the objectives done. Then the 3 yr olds came in and were so different, excited, and a cohesive group with evident leaders already. That day I saw up close and personal and reflected about how Pam was always bubbly and full of life and was the perfect fit of a teacher for these young students. And if she ever complained, it was always packed with humor and positivity. I just thought how well she taught 3 totally different classes and personalities with so much love and fun! This is how she approached life and with all her met her. She could lighten your load with her light from within.
