Memorial Gifts & Donations

Patricia Ann “Pat” Hennessey, 78, of Leland, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023. She was the loving wife of Robert “Bob” Hennessey.

Patricia Ann Hennessey, nee Chabot, was born in Windsor,  Conn. on October 12, 1944.  The last of 6 children born to Frank Leo Chabot and Helen Sullivan, Pat graduated from Mt St. Joseph’s Academy in West Hartford.

After Graduation in 1962, Pat worked for The Hartford Ins. Co in Hartford. We met by accident at a small restaurant in East Windsor.  At that time, I was stationed  in the US Army, a short distance from that restaurant. Myself and a of couple of friends met there for lunch this particular day and I met Pat for the first time. We only spoke briefly but I was smitten. A few weeks later we again met at one of her friend’s homes in Broadbrook, Ct. We began dating shortly after and never looked back. We were together almost constantly.

In Jan 1964, I was discharged at Ft. Hamilton in New York, and flew back to Oakand,CA for a few days.  I returned a week later and sought work. Pat and I became engaged in late 1964. She was only 20, and her folks felt she should wait until she turned 21. She did on October 12, 1965, and we were married in Saint Gabriels Church on October 23rd, 1965.

We left for California in November of that year and located in Oakland, where I had graduated from School. We moved to Orange, CA from Oakland in 1966, and shortly thereafter, were blessed with three boys, David in 1967, Chris in 1969 and Bryan in 1974. We were fortunate to be able to travel while still young, mostly with the kids in tow, including Calgary, Alberta, Canada where I was born, Europe, Mexico, Alaska and most recently, to Costa Rica with friends.

I can honestly say that I have lived a wonderful life, made solely by my companion, Pat. Seldom apart, hand in hand we lived a life of total love and devotion.

Pat is survived by her sons David and his wife Kristine, and their children Brianna & Kelly; son Chris and his children Hailley & Noah; and son Bryan.

My name is Robert Hennessey, AKA Bob. I will miss her the rest of my life. Till we meet again honey. I Love You forever!

A Memorial Service to honor Pat’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 26, at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation – Leland Chapel, 525 Village Road, Leland, where friends may call from Noon until the time of services.

Pat Hennessey was my Aunt my Mom’s younger sister. I remember Aunt Pat always had a cheerful smile and a great outlook on life. She was very loving friendly and kind and outgoing, she had a funny personality and laugh. Aunt Pat was my favorite Aunt. My wife met aunt Pat for the first time when we came to their house in Orange California for a family reunion, my wife Yumiko enjoyed being around Aunt Pat because of her personality, because she was friendly and kind. Aunt Pat will be truly missed by both of us.
