Patricia , known as Pat was born on December 15th 1958 on Long Island NY to Francis and Irene Mickiewicz Blute. Pat was the great great great grand niece of a famous Polish Poet and national Polish Hero. The family moved to Queens NY and when Pat was 12 years old, she and her family moved to the Pottstown, Pa. area.

Pat had a variety of jobs and learned experiences. She trained in restaurants under an Italian chef and a French baker. She ran a jewelry store in Pottstown, did book keeping for a well known meat packing company in Phila. , was a vet tech and raised sheep with her neighbors Shirley and Marvin in reading.

Pat was incredibly skilled in auto and motorcycle mechanics (taught by her father Francis) , accounting (she could do math in her head faster than a calculator)r, and her skills with fabric from sewing , dressmaking, spinning , weaving ,quilt making, stuffed animal making of Dragons and elves and Teddy bears were almost unparalleled. Her time as a vet tech before becoming injured were helpful with her grazing sheep. She was also adept at editing, a trade learned when working for a Dutch engineering firm and doing requests for government jobs for the company. Her editing helped me (her husband) when I wrote papers for my Doctoral degree in anesthesia and then published nationally and internationally.

She was an excellent swimmer on her high school team. Later she enjoyed the beach and ocean in Florida.

Pat was an extraordinarily humane and caring individual. She helped her husband , and father ,and  advised friends on animal care .

She is survived by her husband (Dr Ed Salkind DNAP CRNA, age 68), numerous cousins and their family and other close family relatives. Her father passed away in 2008.

After moving with her husband Ed to Florida for 10 years and then SC in a transfer with Ed’s gov’t job and final retirement to Coastal Leland NC, Pat suffered an MI in 2012 and finally succumbed to acute and chronic conditions. She was admitted to NHRMC on Sunday May 15 in the ER and was finally transferred to Hospice care and passed away peacefully on Sunday may 29th,2022.

She will be greatly missed by her husband , family and friends.
