Memorial Gifts & Donations

Our beloved Patrick departed his honorable earthly life on Sunday November 7, 2021, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice surrounded by all the people he loved.

Just as he did in life, Patrick gave it his all until the very end; demonstrating a strong internal will to recover from his illness. In addition to his parents AJ and Patricia McKamey Nolen, Patrick was predeceased by his father-in-law, Joseph Paul Piver, Sr.

To carry on his legacy, Patrick is survived by his forever sweetheart, Karen Nolen, precious sons and daughter in laws, McKamey Nolen and wife Ashleigh and Andrew Nolen and wife Brittany, of Wilmington. Siblings, Ivy Lutz, George Nolen, John Nolen, Eleanor Hyder, and Elizabeth Bailey. Mother-in-law Gale Piver, special brother-in-law who was like a brother, Joseph Piver and wife Robin, loving nieces and nephews, and many friends who feel like family locally, across the United States, and abroad.

We will never forget the remarkable life of Patrick Nolen. He proudly served in his role as a devoted husband, loving father, coastie, brother, uncle, friend, and patriot. Patrick was a stellar man who made our lives richer, teaching us the trait of selflessness through the lens of a servant heart. While we will never understand his untimely passing, God knew the plan for Patrick’s life and provided his rewards in heaven for his servanthood on earth. May everyone who had the joy of loving Patrick see God winks through small signs of his presence every day. He was a bright light and his legacy will live on in our hearts forever. As a Disney kinda guy, it is most appropriate to end with the classic words of Winnie the Pooh- “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever.”

A Memorial Service with Military Honors to celebrate the remarkable life of Patrick Nolen will be held at Wilmington Funeral Chapel, Friday, November 12, 2021. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am followed by the Memorial Service at 12:00 pm.

Patrick was an awesome guy. I will always fondly remember him telling me how he put his car in neutral and coasted to stop signs to save on gas going to/from Ft. Bragg. His family was his everything and I am sorry for your loss.

Patrick never knew a stranger. I first met him thru the Laney High School band booster! Yes, he definitely had a servants heart! And once you met him, you'd remember him forever. To the Nolan families, I'm so sorry for your loss! My family will hold you all close in our thoughts and prayers

Karen, McKamey and Andrew, A “blessing” doesn’t begin to say how my family feels about your family. ❤️ Patrick, words can not capture what you have meant to my family. You will be missed by many but your imprint on their lives will never be forgotten. We love you all and are so very sorry for your loss.
