Paul Edward Hypes

Paul Edward Hypes passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, March 17th, 2016. Paul was born March 13, 1932 in Wyco, WV and lived most of his life in Princeton, WV. He was the son of Rosa and Author Hypes.

Paul served is the US Army during the Korean War and spent most of that time in Africa breaking codes and hunting large game. Paul was an avid outdoorsman and passionate about educating youth about the joys of the outdoors. His happiest moments were when he was hunting mushrooms, digging ramps, and telling anyone who would listen about edible plantlife in the eastern United States. Paul was a lifelong volunteer with Girl Scouts of the United States and was especially active with Girl Scouts Black Diamond Council in West Virginia. Paul managed Camp Clyde Browder and other Girl Scout camps in West Virginia and assisted in planning camping trips for his great-grandaughter.

A graveside service will be conducted in Princeton, WV at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2016 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens,  450 Courthouse Rd, Princeton, WV 24740, with Rev. Larry Dyer officiating. Family and friends attending the service are asked to meet at the mausoleum.
