Memorial Gifts & Donations

Paul Edwin Jarrell, Sr, “Papa”, age 82, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2021 with family members by his side at New Hanover Regional Hospital due to COVID and pneumonia. He was an Army Veteran, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a trumpeter in the Army Band. He never wavered in his faith in the Lord, and he was excited to know he would see his wife, Eleanor, who preceded him in death, in Heaven.

He was so proud of his family, and he constantly told everyone of the great family he had.

He is survived by his son, Paul Jarrell Jr and wife, Michelle; his daughter, Karen McLain.

Four grandchildren; Paul Jarrell Ill and wife Meghan; Courtney McLain, Candace McLain Simmons, and Krissy McLain

Four great grandchildren: Bryson, Carter, Keeghan and Willow. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Eleanor Rae Jarrell, whom he adored and cherished. The first time they went out he told her he was going to marry her.

He loved watching Carolina basketball, professional wrestling, Atlanta Braves baseball, and Carolina Panthers football.

His greatest times were watching his grandkids dance especially at dance competitions. He would be the loudest to cheer them on.

The family would like to thank all of the Doctors and Nurses who took care of him at New Hanover Regional. They went above and beyond.

Would also like to thank Shauna, his palliative care nurse for everything she did for him. Also, Rebecca who was his hospice nurse for two years. He looked forward to seeing them everytime they came.

The Funeral will be Thursday, at 2:00 pm at Wilmington Funeral and Cremation.
