P. D. Piner, Jr, 81 of Wilmington passed away October 23, 2008 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.
He was preceded in death by his parents P.D. Piner, Sr and Annie Matthews Piner, siblings Billy Piner, Annie Laura Sellers, Bessie Landers, Verna Dukes and Myrtle Bennett.
P.D. is survived by his wife of 63 years Elnora, sons Jerry Piner and wife Lily of Florida and Ricky Piner of Wilmington, brother Bobby Piner of Wilmington.
A lifetime Wilmington resident P.D. retired from Babcock and Wilcox. He loved traveling and photography.
A memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Wilmington Burial and Cremation Service.
The Piner family would like to express our sincerest gratitude to all of the staff and volunteers at the Hospice Center on Physicians Drive in Wilmington for the extraordinary and loving care during PD’s final days. We will be forever thankful and appreciative and will never forget how they helped ease and comfort him through his final days.
