Peggy S. Lockamy 78, of Wilmington passed away Monday May 28, 2012 New Hanover Regional Medical Center, with her family at her side.

She was the widow of Robert Allen Lockamy, who passed away on November 2, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Frances Lockamy.

She will always be remembered for her passion and love for growing plants. She and her husband owned and operated Lockamy’s Greenhouses for over 40 years.

Surviving are a daughter, Ann Willard and husband Ezell; sons, John Lockamy II, and Dale Lockamy and wife Debbie; brothers, Ray and Jay Smith; sisters, Blondell Abrams, Mickey Turlington, Faydene Corbett and Janis Stone; grandchildren, Shannon and husband Dr. Richard Pierce, Audrey and husband David Dombrowski and John Lockamy III; Great-Granddaughter Hannah Dombrowski.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, June 1, 2012 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Oleander Memorial Gardens.

The family will see friends from 10:00 AM until service time, and all other times at the home of her daughter, Ann Willard.

The family would like to thank her private caregiver, Mary Wynn of Senior Care.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Hannah Dombrowski is requested. Hannah is Peggy’s only Great Grandchild that has just undergone the heart transplant at Duke. Hannah is only 6 months old. Checks may be made payable to Northside Baptist Church, 2501 N. College Road, Wilmington, NC 28405 and indicate on the check either Hannah Dombrowski or Peggy Lockamy.
