Peter Clark Ewald, 79, of Wilmington, NC, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.

Peter was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 25, 1932 to John W. and Mary Ewald He lived for many years in Crown Point, NY, before moving to Levittown, PA and then to Wilmington, NC.

He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his infant daughter, Rebecca.

Left to cherish (and I DO mean cherish) his memory are: his wife, Celia, his children, Jeffrey Ewald, Patricia Murphy Hunt (Christopher), Victoria Murphy-Luchansky (Thomas), Scott Murphy; his siblings, Warren, Bernetta, and Meg; his grandchildren, Edward Murphy, James Mooney, Lauren Sparich and Melissa Hunt; his great grandchildren, Kayla Mooney and Aragon Ewald; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, February 16, 2012 at St. Mark Catholic Church by Father Steve Carlson. At Peter’s request, there should be no black clothing. He wants people to wear colorful items and share happy stories about him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.

    I know Uncle Peter is at peace now and being welcomed into heaven by my grandmother and grandfather, cousin Skip and all those he loved that went before him. I will miss his voice that was so similar to his fathers and how he liked to joke around. He always did his own thing and had many varied interests. I am glad he and Aunt Celia have lived close by Mom so they could share some happy memories together. Sending Aunt Celia much love and our deepest condolences.

    Uncle Peter, You were a great uncle who lived your life like you wanted too and I admire that. I remember the great golf outings we had in the nineties and you only would use titliest golf balls, because you said there the best! Rest In Peace and God bless. Your nephew, Jeffrey
