Phyllis Burriss Lewis, 48, of Wilmington, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 1, 2012 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born in New Hanover Co., NC on March 17, 1964, the daughter of James Wilbur and Dale Watts Burriss. She was preceded in the death by her maternal grandparents, Evan and Alease Watts and her paternal grandparents, Wilbur and Dainie Burriss, also a brother, James Keith Burriss.

She was employed at University of North Carolina at Wilmington as a Data Entry Clerk. She was a member of the United Advent Christian Church. Phyllis was a very loving mother and grandmother.

Surviving in addition to her parents, are her husband, Garland B. Lewis; daughter, Jamie Ann Walden and husband, William of Wilmington, NC; also Jamie’s father, James Prince of Wilmington, NC; step-son, Donovan J. Lewis of High Point, NC; two grandchildren, Jade and McKenzie; brother, James Wendell Burriss and wife, Lisa of Wilmington, NC; special nephew, James Brock Burriss of Wilmington, NC; and special friends, DeeDee Cooper, Sherri Batson, and Susan Gray.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 4:00 pm Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the United Advent Christian Church, 4912 S. College, Wilmington, NC with a memorial service beginning at 4:00 pm. Officiating will be Rev. Sam Worley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Advent Christian Church Youth Group, 4912 S. College Rd., Wilmington, NC 28412 .

    Uncle peewee and burriss family im praying for yall aunt phyllis was such a sweet and loving person I wish I could have spent more time with her but I will always remember how she was always so caring to people and the time I did get to spend with her i always enjoyed talking with her.
