Porter Hale

Lester Porter Hale, 84, of Wilmington passed away Monday March 19, 2018.

Porter was born in Pender County on June 29, 1933 and retired from CP&L after 36 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors such as  fishing on the Black River, NASCAR, hunting and working in the yard, peanut butter and Kit Kats. Above all he was a very loved simple man that went to be with his lord very peacefully but will be truly missed.

Surviving is the love of his life Nita Hale whom brought happiness and love for over five decades. With that marriage brought two daughters, Julie H. Helton and husband Alvin, Treesie Paradis and husband Stan; five grandchildren, Summer Mehalko, Corey Helton, and Carter, Matthew and Kevin Paradis and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and London Mehalko.

In keeping with Porter’s request, no services will be planned.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of North Chase Rehabilitation for the years of care and love their dad received as well as Lower Cape Fear Hospice and nurse Kelly.

    Sonny Coley says:
Porter was one of the first friends I met when I joined CP&L in Wilmington District Engineering. He taught me many things about proper performance of the job. In addition, we became friends off the job, and Jayne and I really enjoyed going out with he and Nita to various functions. Poeter always has a great sense of humor, and that kept me going during the time I worked with him. God Blessings to all family and friends. Our lives were improved by knowing him.
