Rachel Honeycutt Bass, 80, of Wilmington and formerly of Stantonsburg, passed away Friday, November 23, 2012 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Born December 9, 1931 in Greene County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Robert W. and Annie Mae Smith Honeycutt. She was an avid golfer, loved to travel, and was a die-hard Washington Redskins fan. Rachel cherished her friends and family, and enjoyed life to the fullest.

Surviving are two sons, Sam Bass (Marty) of Wilson, Bill Bass of Cocoa Beach, FL; two daughters, Joan Long (Bob) of Knightdale, Kathy Bass of the home; two sisters, Lois Pratt of the home, Linda Brown of Benson; and three grandchildren, Austin Long, Alison Long, and Emily Bass.

A memorial service will be 2 pm Wednesday at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Ovarian Cancer Coalition; 2501 Oak Lawn Avenue, Suite 435; Dallas, Texas 75219.
