René Rey Fundora, 59, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015 at his home in Wilmington, NC. René was born August 25, 1956 in Morón, Cuba and moved to Wilmington, NC in 1970 at the young age of 13.

René graduated from Hoggard High School in 1976. After graduation he began working at G.E. until his retirement in 2005 which allowed him the opportunity to travel and spend time with his family.

René is Survived by his mother Renée Fundora; three daughters, Leah and Matt Holder, Leanna and Matt Mangum, and Lindsey Fundora; two grandchildren, Jackson and Emma Holder; sister Becky Jones; nephew Gerald “GJ” Jones; great-nephew Gerald Jones. René was preceded in death by his father, René Ramón Fundora.

René “Macho” loved spending time with his family, hanging at the beach and listening to music at the Rusty Nail. René was loved by his family and friends and his spirit will truly be missed.

There will be a memorial service held at the South End of Wrightsville Beach at the gazebo at 6pm Thursday, September 17 to celebrate his life.

    Hi my name is Kayla and I am a local bible teacher. I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one. There is a very comforting scripture at Isaiah 25:8. It says that soon Jehovah will swallow up death forever and that he will wipe away all of the tears. So we can all look forward to a time when death will be no more. I hope that this scripture can bring some true comfort during these difficult times.
