Richard Spencer Barnhill III went to be with the Lord on Thursday October 13, 2022 at Duke Medical Center in Durham, NC.

Richard had never met a stranger. He brought so much love and laughter to so many. He had great love for his family and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Spencer Barnhill Jr. and step-parents, Willie and Marie Shaw, Jr.

Richard is survived by his mother, Maria Shaw-Sloan; fiancé, Danielle Green; three sons, Richard Barnhill IV, Cordero Curry, and Legend Green-Barnhill; four stepchildren, Jaelin, Lemaj, Tamika, Tyesha; four sisters, Cordia Sloan, Renee Garris (Mike), Velda Barnhill, and Yvonne Shaw; one brother, Arshur Shaw; two granddaughters, Serenity and Kennedy; four nieces, Tiara (Zack), Drucinda, Valeria (Jimmy), Jessica (Jeremy); four nephews, Herbert (Tiffiany), Jeffery (Kennetta), Johnathan (Bonnie), and Sylvester;two aunts, Regina Brockington and Glenda Shaw; one uncle, Jerome, and Boris Barnhill; one brother-in-law, Larry Garris; two cousins, Joy and Nicole; two close friends, BJ (LaKeshia) and Jamie; and a host of other loved ones.

Visitation will be held Friday October 21, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Wilmington Chapel, 1535 S. 41st Street, Wilmington, NC, 28403. Homegoing service will be Saturday October 22, 2022 1:00 pm, at Sanctuary of Wilmington, 6687 Carolina Beach Rd #3082, Wilmington, NC 28412. Burial will be at Pine Forest Cemetery, 490 N. 16th Street Wilmington, NC 28401.

    My dearest brother you came back for mom. This is so hard. I keep telling myself God was ready but I wasn't. Our hearts are so heavy. The beautiful memories will be cherished always.
