Born on May 4, 1952, Rickey took the hand of Jesus as it slipped from mine on the early morning of August 19, 2023. He was a faithful husband, loving dad, brother, peepaw, uncle and friend.
Rickey is preceded in death by his mom Joan, dad Robert and his daughter Heather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Bobbie Jean, daughter Candace, son John M. Benton, brother Brett (Betty), grands Adam, Timothy, Emerson and Christian. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Rickey was “one with nature” being passionate about anything outdoors, especially his yard and garden. He couldn’t have enough dogs or guns!
He retired from Food Lion, and spent many years as a Market Manager working for various companies. Fastest butcher ever!
“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24.
