Memorial Gifts & Donations

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert Gene Ingram, affectionately known as Bob, on January 23, 2024. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who touched the lives of those around him with his unwavering spirit and zest for life. Bob’s incredible journey began on November 6, 1932, in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was born to Leland and Catherine Ingram.

Bob lived an extraordinary life filled with remarkable accomplishments and cherished moments. His determination and dedication led him to become a successful manufacturing manager for the production of circuit breakers in Wilmington, North Carolina. His leadership skills and expertise were unparalleled, leaving an indelible mark on the industry he served.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Bob had a fervent passion for golf that lasted well into his 80s. Together with his beloved wife, Betty, they traveled far and wide, embarking on adventures, one just to play on the historic Old Course at St Andrews Links in Fife, Scotland, UK. The game brought him immense joy, and his love for it was contagious.

Bob was also a proud 60-year member of the Masons at Bellefontaine Lodge 209 in Ohio, and he held the honorable distinction of being a Kentucky Colonel. These affiliations reflected his commitment to community and service, values that defined his character and influenced those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Education played a significant role in Bob’s life, and he earned his Associate Degree in Business Management from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. This accomplishment marked a milestone in his journey, equipping him with the skills and knowledge to excel in his career and beyond.

Though we mourn Bob’s passing, we find solace in knowing that he is now reunited with his parents, Leland and Catherine, and his brother Harold, who preceded him in death. Bob’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind. His beloved wife of 72 years, Betty Ingram, was his pillar of strength and support throughout their journey together. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory his son Edward Ingram (Denise), daughter Therese Davenport (Buzz), grandchildren David Miksch (Karen), Gayle Brown (Eric), Michael Strandquest, Anne Box (Shane), Jennifer Thomas (Jon), and Daniel Ingram (Samantha), great grandchildren Reagan, Jared, Kalib, Olivia, and Rylee Miksch, Aden and Parker Brown, Nicole, Isaiah, Joshua, Joshua, Coty, and Myanna Box, Allie, Lillie, Alan, and Kristian Thomas, Carter, MaKaylla, and Harper Ingram, and great great grandchildren twins Avalyn and Addyson, Lucas, and Liam, along with many other extended family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Bob’s legacy will live on through them, as they carry forward his remarkable spirit and love.

A Visitation will take place at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, followed immediately by a Memorial Service at 5:00pm in the Chapel. This gathering will serve as an opportunity for family and friends to honor his memory, share stories, and find comfort in one another’s presence.

Bob’s memory will forever remind us to approach life with tenacity, passion, and an unwavering commitment to those we hold dear. As we bid farewell to this remarkable individual, let us celebrate the incredible impact he had on our lives. May Bob rest in eternal peace, knowing that his legacy lives on in our hearts.
