Robert Earl Whitlow, age 65, passed away peacefully at Lower Cape Fear Hospice on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 after a short battle with cancer.

Robert was born and raised in Martinsville, VA where he graduated from Martinsville High School. He then attended college at Campbell University. After college, he resided in Martinsville, VA until 2004, when he moved to Wilmington, NC.

Robert was preceded in death by his father Claude “Buck” Whitlow, mother June Crews Whitlow and brother, Berkley Whitlow.

He will forever be remembered by his daughter Jennifer Dennis and her husband Matthew Dennis, daughter Kimberly Durrett, brother John Whitlow, friend and former wife, Carla Whitlow, and his three grandchildren Tyler and Heather Durrett and Ryan Dennis. Robert loved fishing, listening to beach music and playing golf.
Robert touched the lives of many people with his simple advice and witty sense of humor.

A memorial service will be held 2 PM Friday at Wrightsville United Methodist Church.

The family requests any donations be sent to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice who provided such wonderful care to Robert in his time of need at 1414 Physicians Dr. Wilmington, NC 28401.

    We are neighbors/friends of Michael & Susan,whom Robert lived with. We only had the pleasure of knowing Robert for a short period of time, but he was one of the nicest guys you could know, always had a smile even through his struggles in life .     To Robert's family and friends..please accept my sympathy on your loss. Robert and I spent many good times together in high school and the years after. My mother always said that "he has the most beautiful eyes". I had not seen Robert for a long time, but will always remember him.
