Robert Lane Clemmons age 76 of Wilmington passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.

Robert was born in Brunswick County on January 27, 1941, the son of the late Irving T. Clemmons and Ila P. Clemmons.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jo Clemmons and three brothers, James, Lewis and Stephen Clemmons.

Robert leaves behind, his two daughters, Elizabeth Clemmons Heldreth of Wilmington, NC and Robin Clemmons Burke of Raleigh, NC; two grandsons, Noah and Grayson Heldreth; one brother, Thomas Clemmons (Rosemary) of Lakeland, FL, his dog George and many beloved extended family and friends.

He retired from Piedmont Air Lines and US Air with 28 years of service as a customer service agent. After his retirement, he served as a courier at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Robert was a member of St. Johns Masonic Lodge #1 A.F.& A.M. in Wilmington, Sudan Shrine Center in New Bern, the Wilmington Shrine Club, and AREME Chapter #372 Order of Eastern Star. Robert also enjoyed serving as a DJ at various events in our area.

Robert was a very special man who touched so many and was loved by all.

A Celebration-of-Life will be held for Robert 6 pm Monday, May 8th, 2017 at the WLI Club, 10 Channel Ave., Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480

    Robert was a great friend to all of us at New Hanover. He always made everyone feel special and had a smile and greeting no matter who you were. He also loved sharing his family with us who you could tell meant so much to him. We miss him greatly, but do carry wonderful memories of a good friend.

    Robert and I are friends from our days at Leland High School. Each year we have a class reunion to catch up and renew friendships. This year it will be lonesome without him. He was a very special person.
