Robert Lee Campfield, “Bill”, age 68 of Wilmington, NC, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Wilmington Care Center. Robert was born in Wilmington, NC on December 12, 1945.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert T. Campfield, mother, Thelma Herring Campfield, and sister Amogene Baltezegar. In his youth, Robert loved hunting and fishing. He shared that love of fishing with his grandchildren by taking them to the surf at Carolina Beach. These are memories that will last forever. He was a veteran of the US Army.

Robert is survived by daughters, Wanda Anderson (Jason), of Leland, and Carol Hedrick (Glen), of Wilmington; grandchildren, Brandon, Samantha, Nathan and Rachel; sister, Bessie Hyatt (Monroe) of Wilmington; several nieces and nephews; Alan Head, Connie Campfield, Beverly Varnam, and William West, all of whom were a great comfort to the family through Robert’s decline in health.

A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 5pm at Wilmington Funeral Chapel with Pastor Kenneth Long officiating. Family will receive friends immediately following the service.

    My thoughts and prayers are with the Canfield family. Worked with Bill at Heatcraft in 1980s and he and i went fishing. I remember working with him and the good times we had.Wanda my prayers are with you and family.You had a good father.You should be proud of him.
