Robert “Bob” Monroe Lloyd, known as Papa to all those who loved him, age
90 of Wilmington passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 19, 2023,
at his home.

He was born in Durham, NC on August 27, 1932, to the late Wade Lee
Lloyd and Ida M. Thompson Lloyd. He was preceded in death by his wife
of 62 years, Mary Martin Lloyd who passed away on August 3, 2013.

Papa was a longtime resident of Wilmington. He retired from the Sturdy
Corporation in 2008 where he worked as an engineer in the
manufacturing industry. He was a proud veteran of the United States
Navy serving during the Korean conflict and was discharged March 20,
1954. He was an active, lifetime member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #532 where
he served multiple times as Exalted Ruler and was recognized with the
prestigious honor of Elk of the Year. He served in various roles in the lodge
over the years, including the Meals-on-Wheels committee since its
inception nearly 30 years ago. He loved to spend time at the Elks with his
many friends, be outside enjoying warm, sunny days, scrolling Facebook to
keep up with everyone, and he especially loved spending time with his
family and family meals (sans chicken, of course!).

He is survived by his five children Robert (Robby) M. Lloyd, Jr. (Marsha) of
San Antonio, TX, Susan L. Wilkerson (Carl) of Lyman, SC, William C. “Bill”
Lloyd (Shirley) of Wilmington, NC, Shirley Lloyd Craig of Wilmington, NC,
and Thomas (Tommy) L. Lloyd (Rich) of Raleigh, NC.; many grandchildren,
great grandchildren, and great grand dogs.

The family will see friends from 5 to 6pm Monday April 24, 2023, at
Wilmington Funeral Chapel, 1535 S. 41st St., Wilmington, NC 28403,
where the memorial service will begin at 6pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the B.P.O. Elks
Lodge #532 designated for Meals on Wheels or the Mary Lloyd
Scholarship Fund, 5102 Oleander Dr., Wilmington, NC 28403.

    Bob was one of my husband;s dearest friends and they spent many hours together at the Elks Lodge. David and Bob enjoyed fishing, working Meals On Wheels and all the cookouts at the Lodge. He will be missed by all.
