Robert Radford Rigoli

Memorial Gifts & Donations

Robert (Rob) Radford Rigoli, son of Radford and Muriel Rigoli, was granted his angel wings on November 23. 2009.

His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that he had touched throughout his well-lived and very memorable life.

Rob’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His wonderful smile, sense of humor and devotion to family and friends will be forever remembered and appreciated by all who knew him.

Although he was stricken with cancer, he valiantly fought the terrible disease and provided his family and friends with courage and hope reminding us of the preciousness of life. In 2001 Rob was blessed with the opportunity to become a member of the Praxair – New Hanover team as a driver. He enjoyed his work and the many close friendships developed during his employment. Rob loved to fish and spent many days enjoying his hobby with family and friends, Harvey and Ann Morris, on the “C-Paws” in waters off the coast of Morehead and Lookout.

Rob is survived by his loving wife of 41 1/2years, Sarah, of Wilmington, N. C.; sister Pamela Taylor and husband Bobby of Sneads Ferry, N. C.; son Kevin Rigoli and wife, Michelle and their son, Samuel Robert of Mineral Springs, N. C.; daughter Michelle Poplin and husband, Benjamin of Locust, N. C. Rob will be playing in the wind with his two grandchildren who were granted their angel wings before him; Muriel Lynnon and William Nathaniel Poplin.

Rob’s family would like to extend their thanks to all the family and friends who have supported them during the time of his illness. Special thanks to Harvey and Ann Morris of Concord, Joyce and Jerry Plyler of Waxhaw, Richard York and Sonja Dillaman of Wilmington and the members of Wesleyan Chapel UMC who held a special place in Rob’s heart; his family will never be able to express their gratitude sufficiently.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 29 at 3:00pm at Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church, Hwy 17N, Wilmington. Visitation with the family will follow in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wesleyan Chapel UMC, Youth Programs, 10255 Hwy 17 N., Wilmington NC 28411.

Dear Sarah, Kevin & Michelle, Our thoughts and prayers go out to each of you in your great loss. Rob was a fun-loving person and we will always remember the "good times" we had when our kids were growing up especially all the boating and water skiing we did way back then. Will see you Sunday. Love, Vicki & Doug Plyler

    Yvonne Knight says:
I am so sorry to hear of Rob's passing. Your family has meant so much to many people hear and you have been missed. I remember when I found my own Dad, Luther Parker, dead in his home and called 911. Rob was there before before anyone else arrived with such calmness and helpful words and stayed until Dad's body was removed. There aren't words to tell how much that meant to me. And I know I am only one of the many people he helped. May you have peace and comfort as you grieve and thank you for being who you are. Sincerely, Yvonne Knight
