Rodney Allen Rigsbee, born November 21 1971 in Durham, NC, left this physical world on January 7, 2023 at 8:01 a.m. At the time of his passing, he was a patient of New Hanover Medical Regional Center.
A man of diverse talents and trivia he found joy in simple pleasures. In the immediate years preceding his death he developed a love of kayaking, hiking, traveling, and fishing. He was a lousy fisherman but, he earned a reputation for his unfruitful and comical fishing endeavors. His world was grounded in his appreciation of music and a commitment to himself and his family to break free of the chains of addiction. His long-time love, Marriann Easom, was presented his six month Clean and Sober chip posthumously. He was working an honest program.
A tribute service is scheduled for February 11, 2023 between the hours of 3 and 6 pm at New Life Launch Pad, 5001 Wrightsville Ave., Wilmington, NC. While Rodney will not be attendance physically- the Easom family will host a meal, music, and a gathering of all persons deeply rooted in the person Rodney was developing into, thanks to their involvement in his life. That presence was his saving grace. This will be, respectfully, a drug and alcohol-free event.
Rodney did not want a somber or traditional memorial and would be tickled to have those wishes respected. Please join in on his sendoff. He has truly gone home to be with his higher power and is rejoicing in God’s love and embrace. He will see us on the “Other Side”.
