Ronald C. Hathcock, age 70 of Wilmington passed away Tuesday September 8, 2015 at his home.

He was born on August 19, 1945 in Newport News, VA and raised in Albemarle, NC

Ron was retired from Lance, Inc. after 20 years of service. He was formerly a construction foreman and brick mason in Albemarle. He was a member of Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church in Scotts Hill. Ron and his wife were members of Ocean Drive Shag Club, he enjoyed hunting, NASCAR and watching his grandchildren play baseball.

Ron is survived by his wife of 47 years Joyce Story Hathcock; one daughter, Rhonda Studebaker and husband Nick; two grandchildren, Ross and Alan Studebaker; two brothers, Richard Hathcock and wife Trudy, and Jim Hathcock. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Lucille and a sister, Tamara Jo.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held 2 pm Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church. A visitation and reception will follow the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.

    Joyce and family, I was so very sorry to hear about Ron!!! Buddy and I both loved him and Buddy loved being able to share Lance stories with him. I know they are continuing sharing stories now. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to you. It is a hard road to travel but you can do it! Remember all the good times you two shared. Those memories will last forever. Take care my friend.
