Ronnie Lane Brown, Sr. 79, of Winnabow died Tuesday morning at his home with his family at his side.

Ronnie was born in Chinquapin, NC on March 24, 1942 the son of the late John Edward and Lucy Jane Horne Brown. After graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Airforce and then the United States Coast Guard. He would go on and spent 30 years with the Wilmington Police Department where he obtained the rank of Sergeant, and was well respected by the entire department that he so loved. He was a member of God’s House of Prayer; and Preceding him in death are brothers Jarvis; Chadwick and Foy Brown; sisters June B. Davis; Frankie B. Smith; Vallie B. Meadows; Agnes B. Sullivan and Irene B. Schwizer.

Surviving are his wife Beryl Rose Baldwin Brown; son Ronnie Lane Brown, Jr and wife Julie Canfield; daughters Shirley Melton and Frances Brown; brother Johnny Brown and wife Alice; sister Yvonne B. Scott; granddaughters Heather Melton; Dana Brown; Olivia Mckinley Cicatello and Mia Carmella Cicatello and grandson Brandon Brown. Sister-in-law Faye Brown.

Funeral services will be conduced 11:00 AM Friday March 11, 2022 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park with full Wilmington Police Department honors. The family will see friends prior to the service in the chapel.

    I am so sorry about Ronnie's passing. He was a really good person to have known. I served with him as a Deacon at Olivet Baptist Church. He was always very kind and easy to serve with. He is truly Heaven's gain. I will see him at the Golden Gate.
