Rose Johnson Wooten, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023, at the age of 87 in Wilmington, North Carolina. Rose was born on October 8, 1936, in Fairmont, North Carolina, to the late Lacy and Dorothy Johnson.

Rose dedicated her working years as an Administrative Assistant in the banking industry, where her diligence and commitment were greatly admired. Her professionalism and attention to detail earned her the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

Rose was married to the love of her life, Reverend William Martin Wooten, for 63 years. Their marriage was a testament to their unwavering love and devotion to one another. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared countless cherished memories.

Rose is predeceased by her beloved husband, Reverend William Martin Wooten, her parents, Lacy and Dorothy Johnson, and her son, William Kerry Wooten. She will be deeply missed by her surviving family, including her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Wooten Young and Reverend Jay Young, and her daughter, Lynn Wooten Roberts.

Rose’s legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Beth Pence and husband Steve, Allison Howell, Matthew Howell and wife Lena, Lauryn Young Spitzkopf and husband Nick, Cortlyn Young Gonzales and husband Mike, Connor Young, and Camryn Young. Additionally, Rose leaves behind 11 adored great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life and her brother Lacy W. Johnson Jr. and wife Grace and sister, Celeste Watson.

Visitation for family and friends will start 1 pm until the service, Tuesday December 26, 2023 at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel.

A service to honor and celebrate Rose’s life will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Following the service, Rose will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington.

Services at 2:00pm will be live streamed for those unable to attend in person by clicking here.

Rose Johnson Wooten will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to her family, her strong work ethic, and her loving nature. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.

The funeral will take place on December 26, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Funeral Service (1535 S. 41st Street Wilmington, NC 28403) followed by burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park cemetery (1311 Shipyard Boulevard Wilmington, NC 28403)
