Roy Franklin Henderson

Roy Franklin Henderson, passed at the age of 80 on Thursday, April 27th, 2023. Roy was born on October 27th,1942 in Cypress Creek to Hezekiah & Ikeline Henderson.

During his early life, he worked on the family tobacco farm in Chinquapin, North Carolina alongside his brothers and father. At the age of 20 years old, Roy enlisted in the military where he served in the Navy. He began his term stationed in Kingsville, Texas for two months before heading to Oceana, Virginia. During his time in Oceana, he resided on the USS Forrestal which aided in various combat operations off the east coast during the Vietnam war.

After serving in the military, Roy went on to pursue different careers with impeccable work ethic. Being a machinist, aiding in railroad construction, and driving semi trucks are few of many. He also enjoyed hunting with family during his younger years & spending time with his life partner of 30 years, Josefa (Peppy) Toro Bermudez Skipper.

He is preceded in death by his father Hezekiah, mother Ikeline, siblings Caroline, Bronnie, Kathleen, and Willie. He is survived by his partner Josefa, sister-in-law Helen, children & stepchildren Erma Goodman, Mary Skipper, Michael & Nicki Skipper, Jackie Henderson (Rich), David Henderson (Mollie), Brandi Henderson, and grandchildren Nicole, Damien, JR, Frankie, Brittney, Bradley, Desirae, Brianna, Katelyn, Dylan, Bubba, Joe, & Kate, along with many great-grandchildren.

Roy will be deeply missed by all who knew him, his presence in our lives will be forever cherished.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 10:00AM till 11:00AM.

A graveside service will follow after the visitation at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
