Rufus Junior Singletary was born on February 10, 1972, to the late Willie Singletary and Bertha
Singletary Green (Brian) in New Hanover County.
He departed this life on Sunday, April 30, 2023.
Rufus was educated in New Hanover County school system. Rufus was a hard-working individual who
was always moving. Starting in his teenage years working at Whitey’s Restaurant to the Cape Fear
Country Club. At the time of his transition, he was currently employed with the City of Wilmington for 25
years.
In addition to working for the City of Wilmington, he owned a lawn care business and Hot Wheel
Detailing.
Rufus was known for his funny sense of humor, amazing storytelling skills, and the willingness to help
anyone.
He had countless hobbies. His passion was restoring vintage (old school) vehicles and listening to
Motown hits while riding around Wilmington with his fur son “Draco”.
A celebration of life will be held from 5:00 to 5:30 PM Friday May 5, 2023 in Wilmington Funeral and Cremation Service Chapel. A time of visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
