Russell Barden Long, age 78 of Wilmington passed away Monday, May 9, 2016.

He was born in Wilmington on January 24, 1938 to Lonnie Elmer Long and Dorothy Rushing Long.

Russell was former owner of Sea Port Electrical Company. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy serving from June 28, 1955 to January 21, 1959.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris Edwards Long; two sons, Russell B. Long, Jr. and Terry Dean Long; one daughter, Donna Danette England; five grandchildren, Kim Mills, Kellie Capps, Matthew Long, Luke Barnes, and Cooper Barnes; great grandchildren, Wesley, Olivia, Hunter, Wyatt, and Mattie; and one sister Eugie Daniels (Sidney); sister in-law Doris R. Long. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Felton and Ronnie Long.

Funeral services will be 11 am Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the graveside in Greenlawn Memorial Park officiated by Russell’s, nephew Rev. Dean Walker

Memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1406 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
