Ruth Callahan West 80, of Wilmington died Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.

Ruth was born in Bladenboro on March 20, 1930 the daughter of the late Neil Graham and Mattie Powers Callahan. She retired in 2000 after 31 years from Cape Fear Hospital as the first Ward Clerk, and was a member of Winter Park Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughter Robin Durham and husband Michael of Wilmington, sons Keith West and wife Linda of Clayton, David West and wife Tonnya of Wilmington, brother Sonny Callahan of Fayetteville, sisters Dottie Callahan of Wilmington, Mildred Payne of Hampton VA, Sankie Fritchman of Winston -Salem and Dora Kinlaw of Greensboro, six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

A Celebration of life service will begin at 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Winter Park Baptist Church where the family will receive friends at 12:30 PM.

The family would like memorials be made to Winter Park Baptist Church, 4700 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington NC 28403 or Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physician Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
