Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Ruth Irene Lindquist Hazelton went home to be with the Lord on July 3rd.

She was born June 3rd, 1923 in Revere, Mass., but had lived in the Syracuse area since 1946.

She was predeceased by her husband Ivan W. Hazelton in 1979. Ruth was a registered nurse retiring from Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital. She had previously owned and operated Hazelton Nursing Home. She was a long time member of North Syracuse Baptist Church where she was a member of the Progressive Class, the Ladies Guild and served as a Deaconess.

Ruth loved gardening and took great joy in seeing the fruits of her labors. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, and quilting, and members of the family are still warmed by her handiwork. She was beloved for her joy, her quick wit, and her strong determined spirit.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Crisp and James of NC where she had lived for the past 5 years, her son James Hazelton and Tammy of North Syracuse, her grandchildren Erica Johns and Dave of KY, Gary Temple and Tess of Mass. ,Casie Temple of Fla., James Hazelton II of Truxton and Karlie Songer of Truxton and her great grandchildren, Micah, Haley, Jacob, Isaac, Judah, Aidan and David. Another little boy that brought her great joy for the final months of her life is Adyn. She had 3 very special caregivers. Babz, Debbie and Pam made it possible for her to remain at home with family and work in her garden until 10 days prior to her passing. Their patience and loving care was a phenomenal blessing.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, July 13th at 12:00 noon at North Syracuse Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to CAM International or the Alzheimer’s Association.
