Sally Myers Ellis, 88, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed from this earth to her Heavenly home on Friday, September 9, 2022. She was born on June 2, 1934 in Alto, Georgia to Joseph Hershel and Nettie Jane Myers. Losing her mother at the age of two, she and her five sisters and brothers were raised by her loving father, who preceded her in death in 1955.
Sally’s lifelong passion was serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She loved to worship, study His Word, talk about His goodness, and tell others of His gift of salvation. She taught children of all ages in Sunday school and children’s church, and relished her career in the public schools, retiring in 2007. Her greatest calling was her consistent commitment as an intercessory prayer warrior, lifting up her family and friends during many hours spent on her knees in earnest prayer. The most accurate description of this beautiful soul is that she possessed an abundantly grateful heart. No matter her loss or her pain or her circumstances, she loved to tell Jesus and others how good He had been to her all of her life, as He surely was.
Second only to her devotion to her Savior, Sally’s greatest joy was to love and care for her family. She loved unconditionally, supported without fail, and took every opportunity to encourage those she treasured so dearly. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman of God. She enjoyed caring for her home, working outside in her yard and garden, cooking amazing meals (which always included her famous buttermilk biscuits), and spoiling her grandchildren. The amazing support and love that she demonstrated until her very final breath will be missed beyond words by those of us blessed enough to be a part of her family.
She leaves behind to honor her memory, her children Jenese (Dale) Miller and Jessica (Keith) Lobbestael. Her grandchildren Dawn (Mohammed) Miller, Kellie (Kevin) McDonald, Mckenna and Dylan Lobbestael, and great grandsons Brady and Gavin McDonald. Also her forever grandson -in -law, Jason Conatser. She is also survived by several much loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and love of her life Woodrow (Woody) Ellis, her granddaughter Amber Miller Conatser, her sisters Margie Kissam, Hattie McLellan, Maudane Powell, and brothers CH Myers and Roy Lee Myers.
Sally’s family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to God’s Girls caregivers and Lower Cape Fear Life Care for their kindness and excellent care of our precious mother and grandmother. May God reward each and every one of you for your blessings to her.
We invite her friends and family to join us in a Celebration of Life service to be held on Friday, September 16th at 2:00 PM at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation at 1535 South 41st Street, Wilmington NC. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM. Burial will immediately follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Dearest Mother and Grandmother, we do not say “goodbye”, but “see you later”. We shall miss you every single day until we meet again in Heaven.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a ministry near and dear to her heart, our local Christian radio station online at www.carolinachristianradio.com. They spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to Wilmington and the world.
