Samuel Martin Glazier, Sr.


Samuel Martin Glazier, Sr. (Sam) went to be with his Lord on May 22, 2018 after a long illness. He was 80 years old.

Sam was a long time resident of Castle Hayne, NC and an active member of Wrightsboro Baptist Church.

Sam was born in 1938 in Norfolk VA and grew up in the Baptist Children’s Home in Kinston, NC (Kennedy Home).

He had two sisters. Barbra Ann Wilkins (dec.); Addie Jimmerson and a brother, Robert Glazier (dec.)

As a young man, Sam served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a deacon for 14 years at Calvary Baptist Church and a well-loved Sunday School teacher. He also worked with the Yoke Fellow Prison Ministry and the Seaman’s Center in Wilmington. He and Pat were very involved with Abraham Ho’s Chinese Fellowship for many years. Sam also served as an RA Leader through the Baptist Church. Sam retired from the decorative floor installation business in 2003.

Sam is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Guyton Glazier; his three sons, Marty Glazier and wife Mitzi of Raleigh, NC, Randall Glazier and wife Noke of Wilmington, NC and Kipp Glazier and wife Lisa of Durham, NC. Sam had seven grandchildren – Elizabeth Mims and husband, James of Las Vegas, NV, Sam Glazier of Wake Forest, NC, Michael Glazier of Troy, NY, Anna Young and husband Kyle of Mangilao, Guam, Rose Glazier of Wilmington, NC, Macy Glazier of Durham, NC and Jenna Glazier of Wilmington, NC and three great granddaughters, Isabelle, Laurie and Katie Mims of Las Vegas, NV.

A memorial service will be held at Wrightsboro Baptist Church on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 3 p.m. Family Visitation will take place prior to the service at 2 p.m. at the church.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made in honor of Sam to the Alzheimer’s Foundation (alz.org) or The Baptist Children’s Homes of NC (bchfamily.org).

Sam was a beloved husband, loving father and devoted friend. Always willing to help out or lend a hand, someone you could count on for advice, guidance and support. We will miss you and always carry your memory in our hearts until we see you again one day.
