Sandra Epperson Kinlaw, age 78, passed away peacefully on June 2nd, 2021 in Wilmington, NC.
Sandra was born in New River NC on May 15th, 1943 to Samuel Curtis and Lolala T. Epperson.
Particularly in her early years, Sandra was fondly known as “Tootsie” to her family and friends. She met her husband Gerald in 1962 and soon married him. After her first child was born in 1966, Sandra became a devoted stay-at-home mother who raised her two sons Jerry and Chris. Sandra loved everything related to nature and was an excellent indoor and outdoor gardener. Like her own mother, she enjoyed laughing and always wore a big, warm smile. Both her mother and father were raised in the Meadows of Dan Virginia, a place that was very close to Sandra’s heart, where she loved to visit, throughout her life. After her sons were out of the home, Sandra worked for Southeastern Orthopedics in Greensboro, NC for many years before she retired in 2010.
Surviving are her children, Jerry Kinlaw and his wife Kim of Wilmington, NC; Chris Kinlaw and wife Margaret of Wilmington, NC; her grandchildren, Kelley Kinlaw, Stewart Kinlaw, and Caden Kinlaw. She also leaves behind 3 siblings, Shirley Nix of Charlotte, NC, Sylvia Kerley of Hopewell, VA, and Sandy Epperson of Sherrills Ford, NC. She joins her husband Gerald, mother, father, brother Stuart and her adored dogs, Bear and Molly.
The family expresses deep appreciation for the genuine compassion provided by Sandra’s caregivers at Brookdale Memory Care and Community Hospice. A family memorial service will be planned at a later time.
