Sergio was born on the island of Puerto Rico on October 10, 1961. He is the oldest of two children. His family left Puerto Rico and came to the United States for a better life.

Sergio took great pride in having graduated from Dewitt Clinton High School where famous folks like Stan Lee were alumni. He made friendships there that have lasted through the years. He later worked for the high school as a Student Advocate.

Sergio was the kind of person that everyone wanted to be around. He faced life with the largest amount of courage and positivity. He always had a kind word for anyone he met and touched many lives.

Sergio is survived by his mother Aida, sister Betty, his wife Millie and the pride of his life his four children Matthew, Sergio Jr., Alejandro and his baby girl Olivia. Nothing pleased him more than to talk about his children.

Although we mourn our loss of this amazing man Let celebrate his beautiful life.

A visitation will be Saturday, January 26, 2019 2:00 PM with a funeral service at 3:00 PM located at Wilmington Chapel,1535 S. 41st Street Wilmington NC 28403.

    I can not fathom coming to see you in your final state of rest. I want to remember you as we laughed and talked and talked about our families and the struggle with jokes on the side.     My thoughts and prayers are with the Quijano family today on such a difficult day. In celebration of his life, I am and so many of my fellow DeWitt Clinton High School grads are for ever grateful for having known Sergio who brought so much joy, love and friendship to our lives. Especially his sense of humor. I never remembered a day where I was not laughing when hanging with Sergio. He loved life, and adored Millie and his children. He was joyous and positive from the moment that he entered Clinton. If he made friends with you, he was your friend for life, no matter what. I am especially sad that I cannot attend his celebration of life on earth. My love and prayers to Millie, Sergio's children and his mother and sister and to the entire Quijano extended family. I am forever grateful for the blessing to have had you as a friend dear brother.

    Sergio..a friend to many..a mentor to more..you were a gentle, kind soul that is irreplaceable. A DWC brother. I got to see you in your beginnings. Establishing your brand if leadership, dignity and respect in the Bronx and citywide. Very well liked in leadership circles and you played a big role in the way NYC sports in Public Schools were viewed. You were one of the unnamed heroes, and only those that were close to the action really knew. You never boasted about your accomplishments. I pray that you are comforted in knowing that the God of all comfort Jehovah has promised to erase the sadness of sickness and death forever, Revelation 21:3, 4. He hates death and has promised to restore life to all those who are in his memory in the grand resurrection, Isaiah 26:19, John 5:28, 29, Psalms 37:29, 34.
