Sharon McGuire Clark, aged 73, died on Saturday morning April 29, in Wilmington, NC after a long illness.

Sharon grew up on Richmond, Indiana, and graduated from Richmond High School in 1961 then earned an Indiana University Masters Degree in Social Work in 1967. She worked as a mental health counselor in West Virginia in both private and public agencies before returning to Indiana in 1992.

From 1992 to 2004, Sharon developed the first Employee Assistance Program at Reid Hospital in Richmond. She counseled in that position until she retired in 2004 due to Parkinson’s Disease limitations.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the National Organization of Social Workers, and National Parkinson’s Foundation.

Survivors include: her son Ryan McGuire and his wife Casey, Wilmington, NC; her sister Eleanor Oberle and her family, Richmond; her step daughter and husband Marcie and Bill Houghton and their family, Economy.

There will be a small celebration of life in the First Presbyterian Church parlor room, located at 100 N 10th St, in Richmond, on Sunday, May 7, from 2:00-3:00.
