Shelba June Reavis

June 21, 1938 - October 13, 2021
Shelba June Reavis

On October 13, 2021, the world lost a very wonderful lady, and Heaven gained an angel. Shelba June Reavis of Wilmington, NC, age 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior.

June was born on June 21, 1938 to Charlie and Vealie Clemons in Lawrenceburg, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Melba Ruth Sotherland of Huntsville, AL.

June is survived by her husband of 52 years Thomas “Tess” Reavis of Wilmington, children George “Bill” Reavis and wife Donna of Lynchburg, TN., Robin Taylor of Wrightsville Beach, NC, and Charles “Nick” Reavis and wife Ruby of Wilmington. She had two grandchildren Miranda Manderson and her husband Casey of Fayetteville, TN., and Rikki Stubblefield and her husband Adam Ray of Tullahoma, TN. She also had five great grandchildren: Riley, Layne, and Reese Manderson, and Luke and Landree Stubblefield.

God gave June the gift of compassion, and she used it continuously. She never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone. She volunteered for different ministries at church and throughout the community, primarily those for feeding children. Her artistry gift was shown through her stained glass, pottery, sewing, cross stitching, and oil paintings. June was a military wife for 25 years, having to be a single mom for many of them. Her life was unstable; having to move and change careers frequently. She worked for NASA, many secretarial positions for senior military officials, medical insurance director at military hospitals, and finally an insurance administrator for a physical therapy clinic.

June’s greatest love was her family. She guided her children’s life, expressing honesty, trust, and love. These traits were passed on to her grandchildren through constant encouragement. They are also evidenced in her great grandchildren. June’s entire family is Christian, and worships God the way “Nannie” taught them to.

There will be a family Celebration of Life in Tennessee, where June will be inurned in a family burial plot. She asked that contributions be made to the BackPack Buddies Ministry at Wesleyan Chapel UMC, 10255 US- 17, Wilmington, NC 28411 in lieu of flowers.
