Shelby Lynn Hughes, 20, of Carolina Beach, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013.

Born in Marietta, GA on October 26, 1992, she was a daughter of Steven Keith Hughes and Alisha Johnston Dean. She was a 2012 graduate of Ashley High School and was a student at Cape Fear Community College. Shelby loved to draw and write poems, had a passion for music, and taught herself to play the guitar. Her main passion was her son, Beckem Keith LeDuc.

Surviving, in addition to her parents and son, are her Nana, Emma Johnston; two brothers, Marc & Michael; two sisters, Alex & Remi; a nephew, Cage; and a niece, Myla.

A Celebration of Shelby’s Life will be 4 pm Friday, at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Beckem Keith LeDuc Fund; c/o Alisha Dean; 922 Tidewater Lane; Carolina Beach, NC 28428.
