Shirley Davis Skiles, age 58, of Surf City passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born June 16, 1956 in Wilmington, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Gilbert T. Davis and Mary Ellen Davis. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Stanley Skiles and sister, Sue Ennis.

Shirley was a free spirit and a caring person who enjoyed living near the beach and spending time with her family, friends and her sweet dog, Katie. Throughout her life she was dedicated to helping others with their sight as an optician.

Surviving are her sister, Sylvia Edwards and husband Alan; brother-in-law, Michael Ennis; nephew, Brian Ennis; great nephew, Jonah Ennis; and her extended family.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Pine Valley United Methodist Church, 3788 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28403.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington NC 28401.
